Should you require any information regarding article submission, please feel free to contact the Editorial Office at for Manuscript Preparation. Please refer to the sample articles above for reference.Į-mail correspondence. Please note that purely mathematical papers and review articles are the only exceptions to this rule. To this end, the Editors will enforce the following mandatory major section titles for applied original research articles:Īgain, this structure is mandatory for any papers presenting results of any numerical or applied nature.

STEREOLOGY IMAGEJ PROFESSIONAL

Mandatory Manuscript Structure. Image Analysis and Stereology is striving to publish high-quality articles that should be comprehensible to any professional from the fields within its scope.

In the case of any discrepancies the electronic version is treated as reference. Every manuscript is reviewed by two independent referees and checked for plagiarism.Īpart from potential supplementary material the electronic version of papers is identical to the printed version. Every effort will be made to notify authors about acceptance, necessary revision or rejection within 12 weeks from the date of receipt of a manuscript. Submission of a paper to Image Analysis and Stereology is understood to imply that it has not been previously published (except in abstract form) and that it has not been submitted for publication elsewhere at the same time. Contributions for book reviews, communications and notes are solicited by the Editor in Chief. The journal publishes full-length original research papers, review articles, technical notes and short research communications. The fields of application are not restricted and range from biomedicine, material sciences and physics to geology and geography. It promotes the exchange of scientific, technical, organizational and other information on the quantitative analysis of data having a geometrical structure, including stereology, differential geometry, image analysis, image processing, mathematical morphology, stochastic geometry, statistics, pattern recognition, and related topics. Image Analysis and Stereology is the official journal of the International Society for Stereology. The results suggest that acquiring experimental data with equipment such as Robo-Met.3D "r"e"g"i"s"t"e"r"e"d to measure the number and size of particles such as pores in a volume irrespective of knowing their shape is a better choice.Journal Mission Statement. We found that for this dataset, the classical 2D methods underestimated the porosity size and distributions of the larger pores a critical attribute to fatigue behavior of the AM part.

The results from this 3D serial sectioning analysis were then compared to classical 2D stereological methods (Saltykov stereological theory).

    STEREOLOGY IMAGEJ SOFTWARE

Image processing for three dimensional reconstruction of the serial-sectioned two dimensional images was performed using open source image analysis software (Fiji/ImageJ, Dream.3D, Paraview). In this work, we analyzed the porosity of an additively manufactured Ti 6Al 2Sn 4Zr 2Mo sample using Robo-Met.3D "r"e"g"i"s"t"e"r"e"d, an automated serial sectioning system. The automation of serial sectioning provides an opportunity to precisely and accurately quantify porosity in three dimensions in materials. Current methods for characterization of defects and microstructure rely on classical stereological methods that extrapolate information from two dimensional images.

Such defects limit the properties and performance of AM parts, and therefore need to be characterized accurately. Porosity is a typical defect in additively manufactured (AM) parts.
